About Elena ShabliyOnly high quality and professionalism
Elena graduated from Lomonosov Moscow State University (Russia) with High Distinction and Gold medal, holding B.A. & M.A. in German Language and Western Literature with concentration on German Linguistics. 2002 she spent at the University of Rostock, Germany.
In 2007 Elena Shabliy joined Tulane University, Louisiana, USA as a graduate student. Elena’s research interests included Modality, Stylistics, Morphology, Lexicology, and Language Acquiring as well as Russian literature of 19th century. The most recent publications include collection of poetry in Russian The Color of Suffering (2007). Some of her poems in Russian can be found here.
Elena’s latest research focuses on the function of English loanwords in Russian and German periodicals, presented at the 11th Annual Conference of the GDGSA (University of Wisconsin-Madison) and at Southeastern Conference on Linguistics (Tulane University).
Elena taught Introductory Russian course at Tulane University; and she is currently teaching Russian, German, and Spanish at the Center for Educational Resources and Counseling. Besides, she is working as an assistant in the Language Learning Center, Tulane University. Also, in 2007 she founded Tulane Russian Club where she is currently the President.
Elena worked as a freelance interpreter and translator (Russian-English / English-Russian, German-Russian / Russian-German) on many occasions.
